How do I start my kitchen or bath remodel?

where do I start?  Too often, people come
into the showroom seeming overwhelmed or confused at the idea of taking on a
project. The first place you should always start is with a professional. A professional
designer will be able to guide you through the process and help you determine what
your needs, wants, and goals are.



How do I determine the perfect budget for my kitchen or bath remodel?

Determining a budget can be difficult. This Is something you probably haven’t done before, you maybe only remodel a kitchen once or twice in your lifetime. There are many factors that go into determining a budget that it is really important to have this conversation with your designer. What are your priorities? What are your goals? If you haven’t been able to determine a number you are comfortable spending; let your designer guide you through what he or she thinks it may cost, if that’s in a range that’s comfortable for you, and whether or not you need to make adjustments to that based upon your wish list.

What are the benefits of working with a designer during my kitchen or bath remodel?

The benefits of working with a designer is that he or she will be able to help you define your design style. Often the client does not know what their design style is. Sometimes it’s eclectic, sometimes it’s traditional or contemporary, or maybe they can’t quite pin-point what they like. A professional designer will be able to ask a you series of questions, show you photos, and really get into your head to understand what your true style is.

How do I develop a budget for my kitchen or bath remodel? Why should I disclose that to my designer?

Talking about money can often be uncomfortable. Your designer should be able to help guide you through that, by asking a you series of question about what your want or needs are and help you prioritize that. By giving your designer a budget, you’re helping them work more efficiently towards your goal. A good designer will be able to help you maximize your budget, showing you where you should spend your money for the most impact. For example when planning a kitchen, maybe your priority is a higher end quartz counter top, maybe that doesn’t quite fit into budget the way you had everything planned. Where else can we compromise? Maybe we can pick a less expensive ceramic tile versus porcelain or matching stone. There are many ways we can adjust your budget and being honest with your designer will really help them maximize your budget for you; ultimately giving you your dream space.

How long will my kitchen or bath remodel take to complete?

When planning a planning a project, timeline is important. We want to make sure the scope of the work fits into your expectations about the length of time your home may be under construction. Naturally an average kitchen remodel may take anywhere from three-six months to complete, but at Kitchen and Bath World, because we use company trained employees, your installation we can control the project from start to finish. That means an average kitchen remodel for us, will take four-six weeks to complete.

How do I pick current trends and love my space down the road when remodeling my kitchen or bath?

Doing a remodel on your home is an investment. That being said, you want to make sure you love this space in ten or twenty years from now. I always encourage my clients to pick the large-scale items in the room that will be more timeless. For example, your kitchen cabinetry is a permanent fixture in the space, let’s make sure those finishes will still be popular and current in ten or twenty years. Let’s have fun with the tile backsplash, your wall color, or other ways you can follow the trend and still have that be able to be refreshed sometime in the future.

When do I pick finishes to complete my kitchen or bath remodel?

Often, homeowners get excited about the idea of picking finishes for their space, whether it’s a kitchen, bath, laundry room, family room, you name it. However, you always need to consider the first step will be planning the space. How is it going to fit and function for your lifestyle and your family? Once you actually have a layout, then is the time to start applying the finishes to that space.
